Marriage and Family Child Task Force Mission Statement
Our mission is to evaluate and promote quality mental health services for Minnesota children and their families. Emphasis is towards building professional awareness, educational opportunities and a multidisciplinary collaboration towards excellence.
·Evaluation and establishment of standards of practice
·Definition of community needs, including Minnesota and neighboring states
·Building professional and community awareness
·Reducing barriers to service for all child populations
·Continued work towards understanding child development and the evolving needs of the child/family in today’s culture
·Establish support and structure for professional development for members of the Association of Marriage and Family Therapy
·Build collaborating relationships with others who have a child centered focus
·Influence local Governing bodies – State Departments who serve children and families and establish professional development standards
·Evaluate and encourage on-going research. Promote ongoing professional involvement in the advancement of child therapy knowledge
·Promote and build opportunities for clinical dialogue between practitioners
·Identify and discuss liability issues as they relate to serving children and families; and
·Establish an on-line location of resources where marriage and family therapists serving children can obtain training information and support.
